The Nanotechnology Researchers Network Center of Japan, of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology organizes the following Nanotech Schools to train young researchers for further development of nanotechnology.
For the schedules of Nanotech Schools, please see Upcoming Events or Nano Calendar.
Physics of Quantum Effect Devices
Students can learn about quantum mechanics that is fundamental to electronic devices and optical devices, which are used in information and communication fields, and most advanced micro devices as well as their physics. They can also learn about physics of organic semiconductors and quantum information processing theories, or new information communication principles. Leading researchers give students lectures on those subjects systematically.
Understanding Life Phenomena
Medical researchers give lectures on life phenomena from the viewpoint of aging and diseases in an understandable way for science and engineering researchers. Biophysicists give lectures on life phenomena, and structures and functions of cell organs from the viewpoint of a new concept, “creating a cell”, as well as fundamental research to applications of advanced measuring and evaluation technology in nanobiology research.
Nanobio School
Students in various research fields can learn about advanced research works in the fields, which are outside of their fields of expertise. In Nanobio School, they gain knowledge of motion mechanisms, developmental mechanisms and signaling mechanism of living organisms at the molecular level to integrate the nanobiotechnology, which they have learned here, and their own research fields. Thus, Nanobio School provides them with the opportunity to create new research and applications fields.
Under the agreement on scientific and technological cooperation, we promote mutual exchanges of young researchers in nanotechnology and help them build personal networks between two countries. The objectives of the program are to develop collaborative research and bring up young researchers in nanotechnology. Currently, we have the program with US, UK, France and Sweden.
